STANDARD TWO
Instructional Leadership
Principals set high standards for the professional practice of 21st century instruction and assessment that result in a no-nonsense accountable environment. The school executive must be knowledgeable of best instructional and school practices and must use this knowledge to cause the creation of collaborative structures within the school for the design of highly engaging schoolwork for students, the on-going peer review of this work, and the sharing of this work throughout the professional community.

Walkthrough Tool Feedback Document
Using the walkthrough tool created by the administrative team focusing on instructional observations in a short 3-5 minute visit, the feedback entered into the Google Form would then be translated into this personalized PDF that was sent to the teacher via a personalized email for later reflection. This process allowed administrators to be intentional in their classroom visits as well as structured with their feedback. I created the template used by Autocrat. |
B. Focus on Instructional Time: The school executive creates processes and schedules which protect teachers from disruptions of instructional or preparation time.
Observation Letters
After creating a spreadsheet to organize our teachers' evaluation plans and needed observations, I created a template using Autocrat that then ran a job sending each teacher a letter detailing who to expect and which round to expect them. This was appreciated by many to help them know who to contact if there were questions regarding future observations. This process solidified my use of Autocrat that led to further strategies to quickly get detailed and specific information to individual staff members. |

Teacher Coverage Plan
I saw a need for structure when it came to a shortage of substitute coverage for classrooms on a daily basis. There were teachers being called at a moment's notice to cover a class during their planning. I brought a best practice from a former school that created a equitable schedule to divide up the blocks of needed coverage as well as planning with scheduled PLC times so that teachers could plan ahead and be available on their scheduled day if our attendance coordinator needed assistance to cover classroom supervision. It was well received as some teachers felt unfairly called on a regular basis to help. This process was important to showcase my ability to organize and find solutions to issues that are concerning for all staff members. |
